Operations Manager (Energy Fleet)

SUMMARY:
Our Client, a leader in the Telecommunications industry, is looking for an Operations Manager: Energy Fleet for a 12 month contract position. R350.00 per hour

POSITION INFO:

Follow project management principles, even on the smallest of projects…; full scoping, road mapping and project plans (incl. defining project problem statement, objectives, KPIs and WBS for backup energy fleet projects.

Contract and price negotiations with suppliers / vendors and establish a Pricebook to simplify and manage commercials.
Equipment / spares forecasting and logistics management.
Business case analyses and submit proposals for approval.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders e.g. National Field Operations, Regional
Operations, NPM, FFO Managed Services, Finance, SCM.
Provide project management support to division and other groups.
Track progress and prepare reports / presentations for management.
Lead meetings and workshops.
Review performance of contractors against contracts.
Follow financial principles, Quotation, Purchase Order, Invoicing,  receipting,
Procure pricing information from various vendors / suppliers to support cost-effective
purchasing.
Supervise daily operations, including employee performance, preventative maintenance and safety.
Ensure that all generators, activities to include but not limited to, movement, refuelling,
services, maintenance, repairs and applicable control systems (alarming and tracking) are
kept in good order and are regularly inspected and maintained.
Ensure efficient and effective maintenance services of all Generator sets, including servicing, troubleshooting, fault finding and repairs across network to ensure the safety, reliability and operational effectiveness of all generators and control systems are in compliance with governmental, legal and regulatory requirements and standards, Health and Safety (H&S) requirements practices and procedures.
Provide guidance to management regarding project bids for onsite improvements.
Establish clear procedures for handling repairs, planning maintenance, services and repairs.
Develop and deploy maintenance control plans to direct execution of planned preventative and predictive maintenance and service activities.
Supervise training and qualification of maintenance personnel on procedures, material and equipment use and Health and Safety regulations.
Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to governmental standards and regulations.
Assess personnel work performance and provide feedback, complete formal employee performance review and develop and carried-out corrective action plans.
Ensure that all planned Preventative Maintenance (Electrical and Mechanical) are performed on all generator sets.
Ensure daily inspection of the fleet to identify faults, maintain, service, replace parts and repair official generators as directed in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations and schedule.
Working beyond official hours as and when required.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
Matric/ Grade 12 (Essential)
Relevant Diploma, Degree in Information Technology/ Engineering/ Business Management/
Commerce/ Project Management qualification (Essential)
5 (five) years overall Telecommunications Experience (Essential)
Understanding of Telecommunications - Mobile & Fixed Networks (incl. RAN, Transmission,
Core, OSS and Field Operations (incl. Passive and Active infrastructure) and Operations
3 (three) years Project Management experience (Advantageous)
Project Financial Management: Project Management certifications (PMBOK/ PRINCE2/ Agile
Project Management/ Scrum Master) (Advantageous)
Contract Management (Advantageous)
Self-starter who can deal with ambiguity throughout the project lifecycle and is an excellent problem solver.
Proven track record in project delivery, demonstrable experience in ‘end-to-end’ project delivery within complex Operational environments.
5 (five) years of generator management experience, maintenance, services, repair  and refuelling Generator sets ranging from 4 to 250 KVA for complete mobile and static generator configurations incl. Diesel, Hybrid, Hydro fuel, etc. unit types
Diesel generators in the industry, including experience with Volvo, Perkins, Yanmar, Deutz, Lister-Petter, Kipor, Bowser,
Technical understanding of synchronised control systems, Mechanical and Electrical component
Understanding of governmental, legal and regulatory requirements and standards, Health and Safety (H&S) requirements practices and procedures.
Understand of refuelling systems, practices and procedures.
