SUMMARY:
Seeking Operations Manager with minimum of 10 years relevant experience in fruit industry.
Thorough understanding of fruit export industry and key role players.

POSITION INFO:
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
B.Com Logistics/Supply Chain Management and ideally post graduate business qualification
Training in Perishables Export Supply Chain / Incoterms / Export Risk Management

KPA’S:
Cross divisional coordination of shipping and landside resources to ensure/secure adequate capacity as and when required:-

Use the Company Volume Forecasts to develop a seasonal and weekly supply chain capacity plan in collaboration with the Exco team
Define and document the principles, roles and responsibilities for internal allocation of supply chain resources
Collaborate with colleagues to develop scorecards for tracking short term and seasonal compliance

Work with colleagues to ensure close relationships with service providers in the development of supply chain strategy:-

Arrange and participate in negotiations with service providers regarding rates and services.
All agreed rates and terms confirmed in writing and signed-off

Ensure that all contractual commitments are met, scorecards developed and maintained:-

Chair weekly shipping coordination meetings to review performance, take corrective action and problem-solving within and between operational teams

Financial Control:-

Reconcile seasonal volumes against commitments
Manage the recovery of losses due to marine incidents and service provider deviations

Management:-

Manage subordinates. Initially one “Shipping Coordinator” plus port representative.
Attend EXCO meetings and provide feedback on operational matters
