SUMMARY:

Operations Optimization Engineer

Internationally established Manufacturing organization based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town is seeking to appoint a hands-on Operations Optimization Engineer.

The Operations Optimization Engineer will be responsible for evaluating and improving current machinery and operations.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• National Senior Certificate / Grade 12.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience in a Maintenance Engineering capacity in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Proactive and methodical with a hands-on and technical approach.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to perform under pressure.

Responsibilities (not limited to):

• Develop, implement, and update systems to track and collect data on the use of resources.
• Data analysis and identification of possible cost per unit of production reductions.
• Track impact of all changes in terms of cost, time, and efficiency.
• Conduct and track site visits to identify possible changes/improvements.
• Generation of reduction in running/ downtime strategies / concepts.
• Present improvement recommendations to all relevant department leads for discussion.
• Communicate strategies and concepts (along with design constraints and basic concept descriptions) to Engineering teams for implementation.
• Update work instructions and SOP’s as and when needed.
• Oversee and track implementation of new concepts/processes/strategies to ensure proper implementation.
• Adjust strategies/concepts as required.
• R&D related studies to production, efficiency, and products.
• Prepare reports on current usage and suggested improvements.
• Submit progress and impact report on all changes implemented.
• Prepare report on site visits conducted and improvements identified.
• Keep track of improvements recommended, approved and finalized.
• Maintain progress reports on implementation of improvements.
