This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing logistics, fleet and asset management, operational performance, people management, customer service, compliance, and cost control across multiple operational sites.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements: Minimum of 5 years' experience in logistics and\/or operations management. Proven experience leading teams within a labour-intensive operational environment. Experience in the sanitation, construction, equipment rental, transport, logistics, or a similar service-driven industry will be advantageous. Demonstrated experience managing multiple operational sites or depots. Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent planning, organisational, and coordination abilities. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Sound financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and operational efficiency. Experience managing operational budgets, labour costs, overtime, and fleet expenses. Knowledge of fleet management, route planning, scheduling software, GPS tracking systems, and fleet monitoring will be advantageous. Experience managing high-volume, multi-stop delivery or service routes will be advantageous. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy. A valid driver's licence. A hands-on management style with the willingness to be actively involved in daily operations. Willingness to work early mornings, late hours, and weekends when operational requirements demand. Responsibilities: Operations & Logistics Plan, schedule, and oversee the daily delivery, servicing, and collection of portable units across multiple depots. Optimise delivery and service routes to improve efficiency while reducing fuel consumption and travel time. Ensure all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are consistently achieved. Manage operational challenges, including breakdowns, urgent service requests, and day-to-day operational issues. Monitor operational performance and drive continuous improvement through key performance indicators (KPIs). Oversee the efficient operation of five depots, ensuring consistent service delivery and operational standards. People Management Lead, supervise, coach, and motivate drivers, cleaners, and yard staff. Set clear performance expectations and manage productivity across operational teams. Conduct regular team meetings, coaching sessions, performance reviews, and ongoing skills development. Manage disciplinary processes, attendance, conflict resolution, and employee relations in conjunction with HR. Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused team culture. Fleet & Asset Management Oversee fleet availability, maintenance, servicing schedules, and operational readiness. Manage company assets, including tracking equipment utilisation, losses, damages, and maintenance requirements. Ensure yard operations remain organised, clean, safe, and efficient. Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment. Cost Control & Operational Efficiency Monitor and control operational expenditure, including fuel, labour, maintenance, and overtime costs. Manage staffing levels to maximise productivity while remaining within operational budgets. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality. Analyse route efficiency, cost per job, and operational profitability. Customer Service Ensure consistently high levels of customer satisfaction. Resolve escalated customer complaints and operational issues promptly and professionally. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients. Ensure service quality standards are consistently maintained. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety legislation, and industry regulations. Enforce PPE compliance and safe working practices. Conduct safety inspections, toolbox talks, and incident investigations. Ensure environmental compliance relating to waste handling, transport, and disposal. Reporting & Performance Management Monitor and report on operational KPIs, team performance, customer service levels, and operational costs. Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports. Analyse operational data to improve planning, efficiency, and business performance.
