CLIENT in the CONSULTING ENGINEERING, MINING, MINERALS AND BULK MATERIALS HANDLING INDUSTRY requires the services of a PLANT SUPERINTENDENT at their plant in the LIMPOPO AREA as soon as possible
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Plant Superintendent with a strong background in chrome processing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day plant activities, ensuring optimal production performance, operational stability, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across all processing circuits.
This leadership role requires extensive knowledge of crushing, screening, milling, spiral concentration, WHIMS, flotation, and final product handling within a chrome beneficiation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily plant operations to achieve production targets and product quality requirements.
- Manage and mentor plant supervisors, controllers, and operational teams to ensure high performance and accountability.
- Monitor plant performance KPIs and implement corrective actions to optimize throughput, recovery, and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure reliability of plant equipment.
- Oversee plant investigations, root-cause analyses, and implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Develop and enforce operational procedures and best practices.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Manage shift structures, workforce planning, and performance management.
- Support capital projects, plant modifications, and process optimization strategies.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma / Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in chrome beneficiation plant operations.
- Proven experience working with: Crushing & screening circuits
- Milling and classification
- Spiral concentration
- WHIMS / magnetic separation
- Flotation (advantageous)
- Dewatering & product handling

- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent knowledge of SHEQ standards and compliance requirements.
- Computer literacy in plant reporting systems and MS Office.
