PROCUREMENT MANAGER: PIPES, FITTINGS & FLANGES EAST RAND (3612)

SUMMARY:
Our client a multinational distributor of fluid control products requires an experienced person to oversee the groups procurement.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / equivalent
• Completed degree or diploma in Procurement  / Supply Chain

 Experience and requirements:

• 10 or more years’ experience buying of fluid control products, of which 5 years must be at a senior level.
• Buying of Steel Pipes, Fittings, Flanges, Valves, Pumps, and Irrigation products
• Computer literate: advanced skills on Excel and an ERP system
• Sound arithmetic skills
• Mature and assertive
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Good communicator
• Currently or recently employed at a stockist of Steel Pipes, fittings, flanges and valves
• Hands-on Import experience
• Good planning skills
• Reside on the East Rand
• Have a stable work record and contactable references
• Able to travel internationally to the Far East to meet with Suppliers

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Products:

• Identify and continuous review of all group fluid products, including pumps & irrigation products
• Review product specifications and align to group and market requirements
• Identify and suggest new / alternative products
• Ensure correct Syspro fluid product descriptions and product grouping etc.

Suppliers:

• Identify and continuous review of both local and foreign suppliers
• Formalise supply agreements for approved local and foreign suppliers – Group deals
• Formalise buying deals from local suppliers when branches source directly
• Relationship building with both local and foreign suppliers including overseas travel

Procurement / stock:

• Forward planning and order placement of products ordered on a group basis in line with approved stockholding limits
• Maximise price, credit terms and transport/freight costs
• Involvement in new product and strategy stock planning
• Track both local and international pricing trends and review impact on current stock cost, orders placed and price lists
• Responsible for updating Syspro price lists and any cost revaluations to fluid products, after ExCom approval
• Monthly review of group/branches stock levels in line with agreed stock levels and realign where necessary
• Monthly review of group/branches excess, slow moving, redundant and obsolete stock
• Assist individual branches at supplier level with large enquiries
• Reporting to Group Procurement Executive & Distribution Manager
• Day to day operational management of fluid buying team
