Packaging Lead/Category Management (FMCG or Manufacturing) - Umhlanga, KZN or Remotely - R1.2 Mil-R1.5 Mil per annum CTC

The Packaging Lead will be responsible for identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities within the Packaging category. This role supports all countries of operation, and includes regional travel.
Requirements:
Relevant 3-year degree or equivalent (Procurement, B Com, Engineering, BSc or similar)
7-10 years Category Management/Supply Chain management/Procurement experience
3-5+ years’ experience in developing and implementing strategies in the Packaging Category
Working knowledge of the global packaging markets and the manufacturing processes
Strong understanding of the input material and composition of packaging materials
Ability to think strategically to identify potential risks and opportunities across the company’s operations
Sound track record in successfully managing suppliers
Proven ability to effectively manage and negotiate contracts
Highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills
Credibility and confidence to engage with, and influence, stakeholders at all levels
Strategic thinking & cross functional integration
Excellent presentation and reporting skills
Strong MS Office Skills
Willingness to travel to suppliers and into all areas of company’s operations, both within and outside South Africa.
Key Performances:
Utilises company’s Category Management process to continuously refine global and regional strategies across the Packaging category
Monitors changes to the internal business needs and strategy
Strategically manages supplier relationships, maximizes value and grows long term relationships
Understands the external supply market drivers
Identifies and implements cost reduction opportunities within Packaging based on the outcome of a spend analysis
Interfaces with business leaders and leads cross-functional teams to execute and deliver aligned end-to-end Packaging strategies
Integrates Packaging strategies with business strategy and deploys activities required to execute the category and supplier strategy
Drives communication and project plans to ensure effective delivery of savings and other deliverables against the Packaging strategy
Leads performance reviews with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to evaluate supplier performance and make recommendations to address issues and exploit opportunities
Establishes systems and procedures to ensure and enhance overall supplier performance
Develops and prioritises an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis
Initiates and leads cross-functional efforts to achieve standardization, substitute or eliminate components
Applies a total cost of ownership (TCO) mindset and system-based approach to identifying value and mapping the opportunities on a risk vs complexity scale
Develops innovative Packaging strategies and programs that result in continuous cost/price reductions and support overall supply requirements
