SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity for a Payroll Manager at a well-established company within the retail space has become available. Our client is looking for someone that is well seasoned within the payroll function has a high attention to detail and accuracy and is a great team player.

POSITION INFO:


To manage the group’s payroll operations, ensuring that each stage of the payroll process is properly actioned, that all staff are paid correctly, that correct payments are made and appropriate information provided to our provident fund scheme and other statutory bodies

To provide advice to staff and management on payroll related matters

Plan and direct payroll accounting activities within the finance department by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinates

Ensures that payroll is always up to date with current government legislation and company policies and procedures

Responsible for all payroll system maintenance, upgrade and parameter changes as and when required

Ensuring the accuracy of the payroll preparation, payroll processing, payroll accounting, employee’s tax filing, provident fund administration and ad hoc payroll payments

Maintenance and control of documentation is done continuously

Employee file audits to be done regularly

Calculate and process the Head Office payroll monthly and review all supporting documents

Ensuring that salaried employees are paid by the last working day of the month

Perform the first review on all Store Wages and Store Salaries

Prepare and reconcile all 3rd party payments before submitting them to management for review

Reconcile and prepare monthly payments to Provident Fund and ensure that it balances

Manage provident fund administration relating to withdrawals, new entrants, group risk claim and funeral fund claims

Manage and review all leave administration within the group and communicate any discrepancies

Responsible for leave liability reconciliation at year-end

Prepare PAYE bi-annually (February and August) returns and reconciliations to SARS and submit information via EasyFile system and issue IRP5 to all employees within the Group

Administer all instructions from SARS regarding IT88 and debt collection from employees on behalf of SARS

Register all new stores with the bargaining council and inform the bargaining council regarding any changes such as store closures and transfers

Submit all compensation fund assessments at year-end, register new divisions and communicate any changes

Responsible for generating UIF documentation for termination, maternity leave, illness benefit, death benefit and adoption benefit

Upload all payroll journals and intercompany payroll

Reconcile and review all balance sheet control accounts relating to payroll and provide reconciliations

Capture and reconcile the salary bank account on a monthly basis, in line with monthly deadlines

Prepare reports for management relating to payroll as and when needed and assist with budget preparations

Supervise and coordinate activities of subordinates and ensure that monthly timetables and deadlines are met timeously

Manage two subordinates – responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these individuals

 

Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 8 years’ experience with 3 years management experience

SAGE 300 People

Pastel partner Experience

Microsoft

Excel - Advanced

 

Qualifications:

B.Comm or Payroll qualification
