Job Summary:
The Plant Manager for the Processing division in Thabazimbi is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the processing plant. This leadership role ensures safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations while managing personnel and equipment, planning production, and implementing policies to enhance optimal performance in hazardous environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Operations: Manage all day-to-day activities, including discard handling, to ensure smooth and efficient plant functioning.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety regulations under the Mine Health and Safety Act and ensure personnel adherence to codes of practice, procedures, and permissions.
- Production Management: Plan and schedule production activities to meet targets and maintain overall plant profitability.
- Personnel Management: Provide leadership and direction to plant personnel, including performance management, coaching, and training.
- Maintenance & Reliability: Oversee the maintenance and reliability of plant machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and integrity.
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets and resources to ensure the profitability and sustainability of the processing plant.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: A degree or diploma in Metallurgy, Processing, or Engineering is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a similar leadership role, preferably as a Plant Superintendent within a mining environment.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a hazardous environment are essential.
