Job Summary

With our growing book of business in the KZN province it has become necessary to recruit a skilled and networked Portfolio Manager to help service and develop the growing Broker base in the Durban and surrounding areas.

As a member of the Sales department, the Portfolio Manager’s main responsibilities will be to sell, promote and market CIB’s products and services to CIB’s Short-Term Insurance Brokers in the Kwa-Zulu Natal area.  The main objective is to develop and grow business opportunities from an existing base of brokers, as well as identify and unlock business from some new brokers.

The Portfolio Manager serves as the main liaison between CIB’s internal operational staff and the brokers. Full administrative support will be given from CIB’s head office in Johannesburg. They will support the broker’s portfolio by collaborating with all internal departments, ensuring service delivery aligned with the CIB Brand Promise.  The Portfolio Manager will furthermore assist brokers in growing their book by writing profitable new business and will assist with internal problem and complaints resolution.

Performance will be measured against sales targets, portfolio performance and loss ratios, as well as the development of professional relationships.

• Grade 12
• FETC (Further Education & Training Certificate) in Short-Term Insurance - NQF 4
• Higher Certificate in Short-Term Insurance (NQF5) - preferred
• Successfully passed the RE5 (Representative Exam)
• Computer Literate (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Experience or Exposure working on Tial (System A) highly advantageous
• Must have advanced product knowledge and application in respect of Personal and Commercial classes of Short-Term Insurance
• Must have at least 3 years Commercial Sales experience
• Knowledge and understanding of current market trends, movements, opportunities and potential threats within the Industry is essential.
• Must be well networked within the KZN Short-Term Insurance Broker Market
