Principal Accountant (CA(SA))

SUMMARY:
Lead, Advise and Deliver at Principal Level (permanent role).

POSITION INFO:
A specialist public sector consulting firm, known for its multidisciplinary approach and use of advanced technology, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Accountant to take ownership of complex, high-value government and municipal finance engagements.

This role is suited to a seasoned public sector professional with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and the credibility to operate at senior advisory level.


You will function at a strategic and consultative level, leading public sector financial engagements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and guiding both clients and project teams through complex financial and legislative environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and deliver high-impact public sector finance projects
• Provide expert advisory support on GRAP, PFMA, and municipal finance
• Oversee complex financial reporting and audit engagements
• Advise senior stakeholders and executive-level clients
• Mentor, review, and guide the work of senior and junior finance professionals
• Ensure consistent quality, compliance, and delivery across all engagements

• CA(SA) qualification (non-negotiable)
• 10+ years’ accounting experience with significant public sector exposure
• Extensive expertise in GRAP, PFMA, and government/municipal finance
• Proven leadership, advisory, and stakeholder management capability
• Comfortable operating at a strategic, consultative level
• Willingness to travel as required
