SUMMARY:
A leading engineering and mining consultancy delivering complex underground and surface infrastructure projects across the mining sector. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a highly experienced Principal Civil / Structural Engineer with strong underground mining expertise to lead and deliver technically challenging projects.

POSITION INFO:
Role Overview:
The Principal Civil / Structural Engineer will provide technical leadership, design oversight, and mentoring within multi-disciplinary project teams. The role involves the design, review, and approval of civil and structural systems for underground mining infrastructure, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, safety requirements, and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the civil and structural design of underground mining infrastructure, including shafts, declines, chambers, foundations, and support systems
Provide technical authority and sign-off on designs, calculations, and reports
Manage and review designs prepared by engineers and designers
Interface with clients, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams
Ensure compliance with the relevant codes, standards, and mining regulations
Conduct site inspections and provide construction support as required
Contribute to project planning, risk assessments, and cost estimates
Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers
Support business development through proposals and technical input

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree advantageous)
Professional registration (Pr Eng / CEng / PE or equivalent)
Experience, with significant exposure to underground mining projects
Strong background in underground structural design and ground support systems
Proven leadership experience in a principal or senior engineering role
Proficiency in relevant design software and engineering analysis tools
Strong communication, report writing, and client-facing skills
Ability to work independently and lead technically complex projects
