SUMMARY:
Provide technical mining engineering support and expertise in a multi-disciplinary team to the Copper operations in Africa.

POSITION INFO:

Principal Mining Engineer

Based in Johannesburg and to travel into Africa as and when required

Must be a South African Citizen

Work Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 of those years in relevant site-based roles

• Copper and/or another base metal experience required

• Experience working with geological block models and/or pit optimisation required

• Advanced mining software skills, preferably within a range of software including Deswik

• Prior experience in managing and leading diverse technical teams, preferably in Africa would be highly regarded

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering postgraduate degree would be favourable

As a key member of the Copper Technical Services Team, you will provide technical mining engineering support and expertise in a multi-disciplinary team to the Copper operations in Africa.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Lead the development of life of mine designs and schedules for our African operations.

• Assist in the delivery of optimisation projects on site.

• Guide the implementation of technical standards and systems regionally and at operating sites.

• Provide support in technical evaluation and due diligence reviews.

• Leading and mentoring the mining engineers in our operations and regional hub.
