Process Engineer

SUMMARY:
An established international manufacturer of specialised agrochemicals requires a dynamic Process Engineer, with a safety-first mindset, to actively apply continuous improvement tools, influence projects, resolve problems and drive innovation within their manufacturing facility in Brits.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a BEng. Chemical / Process degree
• A minimum of 3 year’s experience in a manufacturing process environment will be required
• Previous experience in managing a production unit would be an advantage
• Data analysis and Continuous Improvement experience is important
• SAP knowledge would be beneficial
• Must be able to work different hours and shifts
• Must have previous exposure to Process Risk Assessments / HAZOP

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing a high level of chemistry, batch process knowledge for formulation and maintenance expertise on the formulation, fill and pack line.
• Driving Root Cause Analysis in the Production environment.
• Focusing on safety observations and improvements in the plant.
• Driving Hopper projects and focus on a Continuous Improvement culture.
• Assisting with process designs and efficiency projects.
• Driving and managing small multidisciplinary projects by using Continuous Improvent tools (OPEX).
• Gathering and analysing data to contribute to the Production department’s OEE, down time, initiation of Hopper projects and Continuous Improvement.
• Driving and managing documentation control for the Production department.
• Running a Formulation and/or Fill & Pack shift and ensuring manufacturing processes are well managed and controlled.
• Continuously improving on Production ways of working, including capturing and analysis data, production dashboards, VPM boards and production tier meeting platforms.
• Assisting Production to ensure the Management of Change process is followed and implemented on all changes in the Production environment.
• Assisting Production to keep P&ID’s updated.
• Supporting HSEQ on driving improvements on Formulation and Fill & Pack lines to improve on HSEQ gaps and concerns.
• Support other Production Technicians on driving imrovements on Formulation and  Fill & Pack lines to improve on OEE.
• Support Maintenance and Engineering on driving imrovements on Formulation and  Fill & Pack lines to improve on OEE.
• Overseeing, implementing and co-ordinating autonomous maintenance in production areas.
• Ensuring material usage and PO processes are well managed.
• Ensuring plant capability, capacity and improvements are captured and updated to align with siting team.
• Adapting an operational culture adhering to all applicable HSEQ and Engineering policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Applying a combination of theoretical and applied knowledge in order to guide and lead challenges in that area (investigate, develop and implement solutions to the problems encountered).
• Facilitating and participating in Process Risk Assessments / HAZOP.
• Providing high quality practical advice and judgements to others by applying scientific method, theoretical knowledge and broad experience of similar situations.
