Process Engineer

SUMMARY:

Process Engineer (Contract) for the Mining & Minerals Division with 5 years experience on multi disciplinary projects

POSITION INFO:

Main Purpose of the Role:

• Responsible for project management/co-ordination on projects and studies
• Provide specific co-ordination input to the project with both a line and functional role and reporting responsibility associated procurement and contract packages.
• Responsible for planning, execution, monitoring, control and close out of project and where applicable engineering deliverables to agreed quality standards and Clients satisfaction
• Ensure the project requirements are in compliance with location specific government rules, regulations and statutes.
• To work in a safe manner, complying with and actively contributing to the WOOD Health, Safety and Environmental HSE policies, manuals and procedures. At all times considering the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, visitors, clients, community and the environment.
• Accountability for the specific areas of the project budget and schedule. Whilst, contributing to achieving companies profitability targets of the project.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• To support and understudy the Project Manager in all aspects of project management.
• Ensure that the work scope and quality requirements for procurement packages are clearly defined and agreed to by the Suppliers, Contractors and Design Subcontractors and that change control procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure that the technical integrity and work scope definition is maintained through the Procurement and Construction activities, by maintaining close co-operation with those functions. Advise the Project Manager if corrective action is needed.
• Maintain structured communication with the Suppliers, Contractors and Design Subcontractors on technical and commercial matters.
• Assist with the scheduling of the work and the development of the Project Programme
• Ensure effective document control in full compliance to project procedures
• Assist with the measurement of engineering man-hour efficiency and cost
• Issue progress, efficiency and technical overview reports to the Project Manager as required by project procedures. Prepare the Monthly Progress Report for approval by the Project Manager.
• Interface with Engineering Discipline Managers on resource planning, allocation, demobilisation and appraisal, to achieve project and company resource management objectives. Review and monitor engineering performance indicators.
• Facilitate Inter-discipline co-ordination between all technical disciplines, with special reference to :
• Overall plant layout to achieve operability, maintainability and required ergonomic standards and safety
• Avoidance of clashes
• Defined and recorded inter-discipline interfaces
• Close out work packages according to procedures, disseminate and archive useful information gained and lessons learnt.
• Ensure that all engineering documentation and drawings are adequately prepared, filed, secured and transmitted.
• Work in close cooperation with Cost Engineering and Project Planning to develop and maintain the Project Cash flow Forecast
• Participate in Project Risk Assessments and the maintenance of the Project Risk Register
• Monitoring expediting and inspections at suppliers’ fabrication shops.
• Monitoring and expediting of vendor data in accordance with contract/purchase order requirements
• Monitor performance of the logistics team

Qualifications:

• BSc Degree or B Tech Degree

Desirable:

• Registered as Professional Engineer / Technologist.
• Registered as a Construction Project Manager

• Commercial understanding of contract terms and conditions including forms of contract, in particular FIDIC and NEC.

• Good organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of safety, environment and Industrial Relations.
• High degree of literacy.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, e-mails).

Desirable:

• Experience in remote African locations
• Good commercial awareness/risk management skills.
• Previous experience in a similar position
• Experience in Project Engineer/ co-ordination management on medium to large projects and studies
• Site experience construction and commissioning
