Processing Plant Manager

SUMMARY:
A large group, in poultry processing in Africa, has an opportunity for a experienced Processing/Maintenance Manager with one of their branches in Africa. Candidates must have experience in poultry abattoir and FMCG processing plants, with both frozen and fresh food (non-negotiable).

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• Lead engineering projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and resource allocation.
• Maintenance on ammonia plant, compressors, screw compressors, condensers, evaporators, auxiliary equipment, dryers, and spiral freezers.
• Perform power analysis and provide plant optimization recommendations.
• Implement proactive maintenance strategies including condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
• Manage safety, health, and environmental compliance across all operations.
• Track downtime and cost metrics per machine to ensure budget adherence and identify capital replacement needs.
• BEng, BTech or National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical, with at least 5 years' experience in a similar environment.
• Lead engineering teams through coaching and mentoring, developing comprehensive skills matrices for Electrical and Mechanical Artisans.
• Integrate facilities, processes, and production planning systems.
• Ensure smooth operations and legal compliance across three manufacturing sites.
• Maintain and repair ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring safety and efficiency, and potentially troubleshooting equipment issues.
• Key responsibilities include operating and monitoring systems, performing preventative maintenance, and complying with safety regulations/PPE.
• Achieve significant cost savings through maintenance strategy optimization.
