Our client a Global Tech firm is seeking a Product Designer to join their team in Johannesburg on a contract basis. Our client offers great benefits, stability, growth and an attractive salary.

Description

Product Designer is involved in every aspect of the product development process, from ideation of new features, creation of wireframes of designs, creation of hi-fidelity designs, and ensuring proper implementation of the designs. The Product Designer will translate discussions and requirements into designs for web and smart phone application interfaces and will also support the development team during the Agile scrum process to ensure the designs are implemented according to specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree or 1 to 3 years’ equivalent experience designing web and mobile applications
• Proven track record designing and releasing successful user experiences for multiple device types and contexts
• Working knowledge and experience with mobile and web interaction design standards and technologies (iOS, Android, Windows 8, HTML5, CSS, jQuery, etc.)?
• Experience with Sketch, Figma, Adobe CS, OmniGraffle, Axure, InDesign, Invision, etc.?
• Experience as a digital designer, with both web and mobile experience
• Experience working on digital products of various sizes and complexity, both within a team and autonomously
• Demonstrate a good understanding of UX patterns and digital design trends
• Show a good understanding of the design process and an ability to educate others on the role of design within projects
• Experience in digital design practices including conception, ideation, wireframing and prototyping

Responsibilities:

• Ability to take in various stakeholder ideas and feedback and translate into design solutions
• Ability to persuasively communicate design concepts and justify design decisions
• Have a love for crafting beautiful and intuitive user interfaces
• Design user interfaces using participatory and iterative design techniques, including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, and other forms of requirements discovery
• Create artifacts to visually communicate designs and user interaction, to include:
• Navigation structures
• Flowcharts
• Storyboards
• Object Models
• Wireframes
• Clickable prototypes
• Concept sketches
• Hi-fidelity designs
• Personas
• Interaction spec
• Visual spec
• Create designs, icons, and layouts that adhere to established interaction and visual patterns
• Acquire and develop understanding of the customer’s needs, the company’s product(s), and the business goals and initiatives of the company/department. Apply lessons learned to improve the quality of the department deliverables
• Create visual specifications of final designs to enable developers to accurately translate to the product
• Participate in Agile teams with members of other disciplines
• Develop relationships with functional team members and agile team members
• Acquire and develop skills that can increase value delivered
• Lead projects from idea to prototype to product with team that includes product management, and scrum team
• Perform research and keep up-to-date with new and futuristic technology in IxD and HCI
• Collaborate with product management and product development/scrum teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented
• Work with the product team to develop and lead user research and testing, ensuring designs meet users’ needs
• Conduct design review with internal teams, clearly rationalizing and explaining design while also advocating for the users’ needs
• Attend and collect feedback at trade shows, annual client conference and other industry sponsored events
• Translate discussions and requirements into leading application designs and layouts
• Collaborate effectively on a team and be willing to explore all options
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager’s discretion.
