Product Specialist (Telecommunications) – Midrand

Location: Midrand

Role Overview

The successful candidate will act as the technical subject matter expert across a specialised product portfolio, supporting both internal teams and external clients.
This role combines pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including solution design, product training, and customer engagement across South Africa and the SADC region.
The position is best suited to a professional with strong experience in product management, technical sales, and network infrastructure, who thrives in a client-facing, solution-driven environment.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, IT, Computer Science, or related
5 – 10+ years’ relevant experience
Proven experience in:
- Product management
- Technical sales
- Network infrastructure
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience with CRM systems (advantageous)
Fluent in Afrikaans (essential)

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise across the product portfolio in SA and SADC
Support sales teams with product positioning, demonstrations, and presentations
Deliver training to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
Assist with solution design, configuration, and implementation
Provide pre- and post-sales technical support, including troubleshooting
Collaborate with product management and R&D teams
Gather market insights to support continuous product improvement
Represent the organisation at industry events, webinars, and trade shows
Design and present solutions for FTTH, FTTB, FTTA, FTTC, and enterprise networks
Conduct technical workshops and assist with RFP responses
Provide on-site and remote technical support when required

Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of fibre optics, GPON, wireless technologies, and structured cabling
Ability to translate technical features into business value
Knowledge of installation standards and testing methodologies
Strong presentation and communication skills
Ability to work effectively across diverse teams and cultures

Additional Information

Travel within South Africa and the SADC region required
Exposure to international products and innovation-driven environments
