Job Title: Product Support Technician

Geographical area: Centurion – must be willing to travel extensively

The successful incumbent will be responsible for:

• Analyze and investigate range of faults which may be the root cause of a failure and assess the potential risk
• Hardware and software troubleshooting prowess
• Ability to critically analyse a symptom and diagnose a fault, plan and undertake the repair
• Analyse defects and investigate root cause of product failures
• Determine the extent and scope of repairs required to render defective systems, sub systems, parts or components functional
• Performs identified repairs and test unit under repair to applicable specifications
• Performs a quality check on own work and prepares Maintenance documentation
• Submit and discuss all deviations from approved specifications with authorities and initiate and substantiates required approval sheets thereto
• Test repaired system(s) and sub-assemblies in accordance with ATP’s. Analyze faults and non-conformances, documents and rectify
• Integrate components, sub-assemblies to the system and perform de-bugging, fault finding and repair defects
• Invite Customer Quality Controller(s) as applicable to witness Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and generate test report
• Implements Retrofits, Service Bulletins or Modifications locally and at Customers. Completion of all relevant maintenance documentation related to the test and repair of the product;
• Ability to write technical reports, represent Product Support at design reviews, failure review boards and resolve quality notifications

Minimum qualifications and experience:

• BTech Electronic Engineering (or Avionics)
• Min 5 years (qualified technician, aviation industry would be advantageous (avionics or instrumentation)
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic equipment and systems
• knowledge of the theories, principles, requirements and standards of the electronics trade
• Experience in the Defense Aviation and/or Aerospace Industry is preferred
