Production Engineer - Epping Industria, Cape Town

My client, a leading and well known manufacturing company based in Epping Industria requires the services of 2 experienced production Engineers to join their team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This jobs core function is to manage production units and their resources to manufacture Quality API products on Schedule and in full in a safe and regulatory compliant manner, within a chemical manufacturing plant regulated by world class pharmaceutical standards.

Mandatory qualification required by candidate’s are a relevant degree in Chemical Engineering / Organic Chemistry, complimented with some post graduate management training and experience.

A further desired qualification over and above the mandatory one is a secondary post graduate qualification in Production/Operations Management, or suitable equivalent as per SAQA – NQF levels.

Candidate’s must have a minimum of 5 years Managerial level experience in a Production / Technical / Engineering role in a manufacturing operation within the Petro-chem / Speciality Chemicals / Pharmaceutical Manufacturing industries.

Good knowledge and experience of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), SHE Regulations and of working in a highly regulated environment such as API, Petro-chem, Speciality chemicals or Pharmaceutical industry is required.

Systems experience with Ms. Office, SAP, ABB process automation systems or similar, is required.

BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS

Manage all production related resources including but not limited to process equipment, materials handling equipment, utilities, clean rooms, production personnel, materials, reagents, solvents etc to achieve production process parameters, planned product specifications, yields and final production outputs within specified time, safety and quality requirements.

Managing and controlling budgets, capital expenditure and continuous improvement projects within the department.

Ensure that all manufacturing facilities and equipment comply with and operate within the cGMP and quality frameworks specified in the ICH guidelines (most notably ICH Q7), FDA CFR 21 Parts 210 & 211 as well as any other specific regulations required by the global pharmaceutical community and systems specific.

Implement systems and procedures in production as required by new processes, equipment and regulations and ensure that the current systems and procedures are followed and maintained.

Ensure that all facilities are managed and operated within compliance to the required SHE regulations.

Participate in sustainability, continuous improvement and process optimization projects as delegated.

Oversee and/or assist with introducing/transferring new processes into the various manufacturing facilities and ensure that all staff are appropriately trained to run these processes.

Participate in, and / or lead risk assessments, HAZOPs, incident investigations and process deviation investigations which occur within the production engineers designated area of responsibility.

Manage employee Training, development and on-the-job performance within compliance to company SHE, GMP, HR and other regulations whilst maintaining high standards of discipline.

Ensure inter and intra department cohesion and teamwork in alignment with company values, culture and work ethic.
