Our client in the Pharmaceutical industry based in Port Elizabeth is looking for an experienced Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure production department compliance to the OHSACT
  • Ensure departmental compliance to the Guide to Good Manufacturing Practices for medicine in South Africa.
  • Pharmaceutical Responsibility for manufactured products.
  • Oversee the development, approval of an the implementation for production pharmaceutical specifications (SOP`s) and procedures including amendments.
  • Ensure that production relevant documentation in GMP compliant, on-time and reviewed prior to approval.
  • Ensure that products are produced and stored according to the appropriate documentation in order to obtain the required quality.
  • To approve the instructions relating to the production, including the in-process controls and to ensure their strict implementation.
  • To ensure that the production records are evaluated and signed by an authorised person before they are sent to the Quality Department and for final product release.
  • The monitoring and control of the manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure plant meets hygiene and cleanliness standards i.e. ensure that cleaning is appropriate and efficient according to production needs.
  • With support of the Validation Department, ensure that appropriate validation and calibration for equipment and processes are performed in the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that there is a system in operation within the production function to facilitate the inspection, investigation and taking of samples in order to monitor factors which may affect product quality.
  • Support QA in all production relevant to quality investigations for example product recalls, compliant investigation, deviations, OOS, OOT, change controls, PQR and Quality Risk Management.
  • Implement/Support risk based approaches for all manufacturing aspects, operations and equipment.
  • Represent the manufacturing function during inspections and audits.
  • Ensure that final products meet specified quality.
  • Budgetary forecasting and control.
  • Develop strategic roadmap for the production function to meet market and business requirements for the present and future conditions.
  • Work with the Supply Chain Manager to convert the sales plan into an Operations plan and into a finite production plan.
  • Set KPI`s for the department and review the departmental performance against this plan.
  • Identify opportunities for productivity and efficiency improvement. Included in this will be the improvement of product yield.
  • Support the Continuous Improvement Specialist with the introduction and roll-out of World Class Manufacturing practices within the business.
  • Ensure that adequate maintenance is carried out on all equipment, utilities and the manufacturing area.
  • Ensure that all personnel in the production function are developed and trained as required by the various job functions.
  • Develop and control the financial budget for the production function with the aim of ensuring lowest possible product cost on all products produced.

Requirements

  • B Pharm Tertiary Qualification OR Degree in Management
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with relevant pharmaceutical manufacturing and management experience.
  • Advanced competence in planning
