POSITION INFO:

Our client in the Pharmaceutical industry based in Port Elizabeth is currently looking to employ a Production Manager. Only those with Pharmaceutical industry experience will be considered.

Main purpose of the position:

  • To manage the manufacturing operations for both Small Volume Parenterals and Large Volume Parenterals.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all personnel in the Production department.
  • Ensure that all personnel in the production function is developed and trained as required by the various job functions.
  • Ensure the timely supply of quality product to our customers.
  • Ensure production department compliance to the OHSACT (ACT 85 OF 1993) and departmental compliance to the Guide of Good Manufacturing Practice for medicines in South Africa.
  • Ensure that final products meet specified quality.
  • Ensure that production relevant documentation is GMP and GDoP compliant, on-time and reviewed prior to approval.
  • Ensure that products are produced and stored according to the appropriate documentation in order to obtain the required quality.
  • Implement/support risk-based approaches for all manufacturing aspects, operations and equipment.
  • Oversee the development, implementation of and the adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) in production.
  • Ensure the production area meets hygiene and cleanliness standards i.e. ensure that cleaning is appropriate and efficient according to production needs.
  • Ensure appropriate validation for equipment and processes are performed in the area of responsibility.
  • Support QA in all production relevant to quality investigations for example product recalls, complaint investigation, deviations, OOS and change controls.
  • Ensure that there is a system in operation within the production function to facilitate the inspection, investigation and taking of samples in order to monitor factors which may affect product quality.
  • Represent the manufacturing function during inspections and audits.
  • Develop and control the financial budget for the Production department.
  • Set KPI’s for the department and monitor the departmental performance against this plan.
  • Continuously improve processes to introduce World Class Manufacturing practices within the business.
  • Develop strategic roadmap for the production function to meet market and business requirements for the present and future conditions.
  • Identify opportunities for productivity and efficiency improvements. Included in this will be the improvement of product yield.
  • Ensure that adequate maintenance is carried out on all equipment, utilities and the manufacturing areas.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 10 years operations management experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment (nonnegotiable)
  • Good experience and understanding of Sterile Manufacturing
  • Strong management experience.
  • Strong people management experience
  • Strong manufacturing process understanding
  • Extensive experience in continuous improvement techniques
  • Can-do attitude
