SUMMARY:
Looking for a Project Accountant from the Energy/Infrastructure sector.

POSITION INFO:

Reporting to Finance Manager Location: Sandton

To provide a professional accounting function to the company by processing payables, receivables, general ledger accounting entries, reconciliations, petty cash, payroll transactions, etc.

Prepares payment vouchers with complete supporting documents and issues cheque/EFT’s after approval from the authorised authority;
Maintain petty cash expenses account in Excel and ensure all entries in petty cash register (General Ledger) to keep record of petty cash accounts;
Processes and records financial transactions during the day and prepares different reports and all type of vouchers when desired by the Accounts Manager / Finance Manager;
Processes bank transactions, ensures the bank books are updated daily and preparation of monthly bank reconciliations Prepare bank reconciliations in a timely manner, ensuring reconciling items are valid and clear;
Prepare reconciliations / analyses for balance sheet and income / expense items;
Assists Senior Accountant / Finance Manager in preparation of monthly closing vouchers for all expenses with all supporting documents;
Maintain up to date record of Fixed Assets & Depreciation register;
Coordinates with Administration Department to organize the petty cash payments, supplier’s advance payments as per the contract terms and verification of monthly payroll;
Liaises with external auditors in the discharge of their audit responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Business Administration with Accounting

Minimum Experience:

At least 3-5 years’ work experience in the infrastructure or similar industry;

Position Specific Skills:

• Knowledgeable in Applicable accounting laws, Tax laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures;

• Sound Knowledge of Microsoft Office & Other IT Applications;

• Able to work independently and in a challenging environment;

• Strong organisational and time management skills;

• Excellent communication skills in all forms – telephone, oral, written, email.
