JOB SUMMARY:
Our client, offering multidisciplinary energy efficiency and optimization solutions for mining and industrial sectors, leaders in exploring and implementing energy efficiency innovation in South Africa, requires an ECSA registered Project Engineer with mining industry experience, to join their project engineering team in Pretoria, in carrying-out energy optimization projects at various mining clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist in the design, development and implementation of energy and production solutions in the mining sector.
Interpret energy analysis reports, identify parameters that need to be monitored, report on implications of results. Proposed interventions based on results.
Carrying out of site visits/audits on regular intervals.
The operation, maintenance and fault finding of existing project infrastructure to ensure system functionality and project performance.
Contractor management and supervision on site.
Management of the installation and commissioning of new equipment on site.
Quality assurance plan development and implementation.
Operational and maintenance procedure development based on the unique features of each project.
Project management services for the execution of approved projects and monitoring of the performance thereof post implementation. Project management will include the management of site activities and overseeing subcontractors where necessary.
Ensure that health and safety procedures and standards are implemented and maintained.
Supervision of site dedicated personnel.

It will be expected from the successful candidate to:

Actively participate in client engagement.
Communicate with clients, manage expectations and build strong client relationships and rapport.
Have a high level of computer literacy.
Willingness to travel to sites within South Africa and occasionally abroad.
Liaising with various project stakeholders, reports on progress and solutions.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum requirements are:

BEng/BSc Engineering (Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical / Civil Engineering) degree or higher (non-negotiable).
Registration with ECSA as Candidate or Professional Engineer
Primary business written and spoken language will be English. Proficiency in Afrikaans beneficial.
Valid driver’s license, own transport and valid passport.
Medically fit to work on mining sites.

Additional preferred requirements are:

2-5+ years’ experience in a project engineering environment in mining industries.
Knowledge of energy and processes optimization highly recommended.
Experience with mining construction sites’ requirements and regulations, safety and quality processes and procedures.
People and business management expertise.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

The successful candidate will have to demonstrate competence in the following engineering activities:

Planning and design.
Develop/design/specify solutions to optimize operations and/or implement projects to save energy.
Compilation of cost estimations, proposals, tendering documentation and vendor selection.
Site inspections and supervision.
Compile reports.
Contractor management.
Commissioning and operation of equipment.
Client and project stakeholder liaison.
Multi-discipline engineering interfacing.
Project management and administration.

Package & Remuneration
R360,000 - R550,000 p/a negotiable depending on qualifications and experience
