JOB SUMMARY:
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to usher your career into the future – a leading integrated Tourism group is expanding into the digital / IT space and are in search of a Project Financial Manager to join their team to spearhead their IT integration projects. The incumbent will be in charge of several Project Managers, with the main objective being the design and implementation of payment processes across several platforms, taking into consideration different contractual agreements with different global suppliers, and ultimately funneling through to a consolidated format for accounting purposes.

My client is a JSE listed company who places a very high premium on innovation and world class technology. Although traditionally seen as a major travel group, their business model and growth are firmly rooted in FinTech. The company is made of several business units, each functioning autonomously to service different market segments. The successful candidate will however need to understand the entire business and its accounting process to oversee and define the business’s process for online payments. The incumbent will work closely with the IT team to determine best practices for moving data from the website into the different accounting systems and still consider different currencies. The company has many global partners, and this role will also be responsible for compliance – both contractually and regulatory.

As the Project Financial Manager you will be responsible for:

Manage the day-to-day financial operations, including payment authorisation and management of billings
Define process of data transference from site to accounting systems, taking into consideration currencies pairs of global suppliers
Report building into the systems
Automating recons
Define and implement business processes for payments
Ensuring compliance of ISO9001, POPIA and regulatory compliance for global partners
Be the escalation point for aspects of finance operations
Define, improve and implement processes for bookings and payments from customer to business partners
Define, improve and implement front vs back office booking processes
Ensure processes are effective but not limiting when it comes to day-to-day fluency of operations
Provide strategic insights on expanding market share
Own cash management, client money reconciliation and cash reconciliation
Drive reconciliation of annual accounts
Oversee preparation of management accounts
Drive cost mitigation efforts
Be the finance team’s point of contact for budgetary interactions with other parts of the business
Monitor spending in line with budgets and own KPI tracking
Help build new and refine existing accounting and reporting processes to facilitate scale and insightful consolidated reporting
Assist with financial inputs on strategic projects
Assist with establishment of accounting processes in other markets, and help grow these markets

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Newly qualified CA(SA) or 1 – 2 years post experience
Ability to design and refine accounting, reporting and reconciliation processes
Experience in scale-ups advantageous
Experience with cloud financial solutions advantageous
Experience in tax and Forex
Regulatory and quality assurance knowledge
