Project Planner required in South Africa

POSITION INFO:

Role Summary/Purpose              

Drives the project schedule to maximize results and supports the project team to deliver the project on time, within budget, in conformity with the contract and managing customer expectations. Is a member of the Project Controls function and is expected to manage project schedules in accordance with the established processes, tools, metrics, and operating rhythm. Is responsible to integrate project schedules within multiple businesses and be able to effectively maintain an overall, integrated schedule.

Essential Responsibilities             

She/he is key member of the project team providing schedule status to the PM

Develops and maintains a single project schedule representing the entire project by integrating inputs from all team members, businesses and third parties contributing to the project.

Ensures proper linkages in schedule to show all interdependencies between contributing parties and ensuring an accurate representation of project status.

Maintains schedule thru the entire project life cycle obtaining timely and accurate inputs from all project contributors

Provides schedule analysis, including what-if analyses, to determine project schedule risks and opportunities than works with project team members to drive risk mitigation strategies

Provides regular status reporting with forecasting and analytics to project team members; and can develop multiple views of a schedule to support functional disciplines within the project team.

Provides contractually required customer reporting and, if required, can communicate directly with customers on scheduling matters

Aligns with cost controlling function to ensure clear alignment between cost and schedule.

Supports change order analysis with schedule analytics and forecasts

Actively participate in a timely fashion in Planning Reviews with the project team, leads critical path analysis, bring up schedule related issues and supports mitigation plans.

Loads resources into the project schedule and manages resource allocations as project progresses.

Pro-actively communicates the project status to all project participants, especially PM. Escalates issues/risks to ensure these are properly addressed.

Supports project reviews held by  leadership teams.

Qualifications/Requirements     

A graduate Diploma or Degree.

Minimum relevant experience of 3 years working as a project planner using Prima Vera (version P6 or higher)

Be willing to be based on site for the complete duration of the project (or relocate to the nearest town to site)

Must be able to speak, write and communicate in fluent English

Desired Characteristics 

Certification from PMI or an equivalent institution.

Familiarity with modern project management tools, techniques including various project management software

Experience in working in the electrical power transmission & distribution industry or in the renewable sector such as solar, wind etc.

Proven ability to integrate multiple projects from various business units.

Project Term • 12 -18 months
