JOB SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a Project Scheduler to join their team in Phalaborwa, Limpopo. The Project Scheduler will have to support the planning and scheduling function of the projects department by creating, monitoring, and analysing project schedules in accordance with the Mining Companies Project Management Methodology and best project management practices.

Job Purpose:
To support the planning and scheduling function of the projects department by creating, monitoring, and analysing project schedules in accordance with the Mining Companies Project Management Methodology and best project management practices.

Qualifications:

Degree (Mechanical / Civil / Electrical) and/or N6 / Diploma in an Engineering discipline, with a Trade Test or equivalent technical qualification.
Formal MS Projects and/or Primavera Training/Certificate.
Formal Project Management Training Certificate.
Computer literacy: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.

Experience:

Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in a projects / construction environment in terms of technical support.
Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience as a Project planner/ scheduler in a Construction /Projects environment.
Exposure in the mining industry will be an advantage.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist the various Project Engineers and Project Leaders in the planning and scheduling of project activities across all engineering disciplines by compiling and submitting detailed project plans using MS Projects and/or Primavera.
Develop, implement, and maintain fully resourced schedules, including work breakdown structure development throughout the project lifecycle.
Frequently update project plans for monitoring and tracking purposes by personally verifying site as well as manufacturing activities, where required.
Identify and manage critical paths on the various projects through frequent updates on the progress of all activities.
Communicate any schedule conflicts, resource as well as time constraints to the project team.
Submit regular progress summary reports on all allocated projects.
Anticipate possible problems with regards to project schedules and make informative suggestion to the Project Manager to prevent delays.
Evaluate current procedures and recommend changes to improve the efficiency of planning and scheduling of projects.
Review and critique contractor schedules submitted for projects and ensure efficient project change management. Maintain database for projects, progress reports, close out reports, etc.
