SUMMARY:

Projects Engineer

East Rand, Gauteng

Mechanical Engineering | Mining & Minerals Processing

Some engineers design equipment.
Others install equipment.
A select few take ownership of an entire project and see it through from concept to commissioning.
If you're the engineer who enjoys standing on site, solving real-world challenges, and watching a plant come to life because of decisions you made, then this opportunity could be for you.
Our client is a respected engineering solutions provider supporting mining and mineral processing operations throughout Africa. They specialize in the design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of crushing, screening, milling, and materials handling systems for some of the continent's most demanding environments.
They are looking for a Projects Engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment and is passionate about delivering complex mechanical projects from award through to successful handover.

POSITION INFO:
What You'll Be Doing As a key member of the projects team, you will play an integral role in the delivery of large-scale mechanical engineering projects across the mining sector. Your responsibilities will include: Managing the engineering aspects of turnkey project execution from design review through commissioning. Liaising with clients, suppliers, fabricators, contractors, and internal technical teams to ensure successful project delivery. Reviewing and verifying engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Supporting procurement activities through technical evaluations and supplier engagement. Monitoring fabrication progress and ensuring quality standards are maintained. Assisting with installation planning, site coordination, and commissioning activities. Identifying technical risks and implementing practical engineering solutions. Maintaining accurate engineering records, project documentation, and change management controls. Providing technical support during construction, site execution, and plant commissioning. Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and client requirements throughout project execution. What Makes You Successful in This Role You are not someone who prefers spending every day behind a desk. You enjoy being close to the equipment, interacting with site teams, and solving problems where they occur. You can confidently review a drawing, challenge a design when necessary, and make sound engineering decisions under pressure. Most importantly, you take ownership and pride in delivering successful projects. Minimum Requirements BEng, BSc Engineering, or BTech in Mechanical Engineering. 3 to 8 years of experience within heavy industrial environments. Exposure to mining, minerals processing, materials handling, or processing plant projects. Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, shutdowns, or project execution. Ability to interpret and review general arrangement, fabrication, and engineering drawings. Strong understanding of project engineering principles and project documentation requirements. Willingness to travel extensively to customer sites throughout Southern Africa and broader Africa. ECSA registration or progress towards professional registration will be advantageous. Advantageous Experience Candidates with exposure to any of the following will be highly regarded: Crushing plants Screening systems Milling circuits Mineral processing facilities Bulk materials handling equipment Conveyor systems Structural steel installations Mining project execution Why Consider This Opportunity? This is an opportunity to join an agile engineering team where your contribution will have a direct impact on project success. Rather than being confined to a single discipline, you'll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, fabricators, contractors, and commissioning teams. You'll develop valuable experience across multiple African mining operations while building a career around technically challenging projects that leave a lasting footprint within the industry. If you enjoy solving practical engineering challenges, taking ownership of your work, and seeing projects through from concept to commissioning, we would like to hear from you. Email: If you have not had any response in 14 days, please consider your application unsuccessful.
