This role is ideal for a commercially astute dealmaker who combines strong financial acumen with a passion for advancing socio-economic development through funding black-owned and managed enterprises.
About the Role
The Regional Manager will spearhead the implementation of the organisation’s investment and development mandate across the Free State. You’ll manage the regional office, lead deal origination and execution, and build strong relationships with provincial stakeholders — from entrepreneurs to government and financial institutions.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the full investment lifecycle — from sourcing and structuring deals to guiding disbursements — while representing the institution in strategic provincial forums.
Key Responsibilities
-
Originate, assess, and structure commercially viable transactions aligned with the organisation’s investment criteria.
-
Prepare investment motivations, financial models, and risk analyses for approval committees.
-
Build and maintain a robust deal pipeline through strong stakeholder engagement and business development.
-
Manage the end-to-end investment process, ensuring quality execution and timely implementation.
-
Oversee day-to-day operations of the regional office, mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with internal policies.
-
Represent the institution at provincial stakeholder engagements, forums, and investment initiatives.
Key Requirements
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience in investment analysis, deal structuring, or corporate finance (preferably within SME funding, private equity, or development finance).
-
Strong understanding of financial modelling, valuation, and credit risk analysis.
-
Proven track record of deal origination and execution.
-
Experience engaging with government, DFIs, and business chambers advantageous.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Investment Management.
-
Postgraduate qualification (e.g. Honours, MBA, CFA Level 1) will be an advantage.
Key Competencies
-
Strong deal-making and analytical capability.
-
Advanced financial modelling and presentation skills.
-
Strategic thinker with the ability to balance developmental and commercial imperatives.
-
Confident communicator and relationship builder.
-
Results-driven, ethical, and self-motivated.
-
Ability to lead and inspire a small team.
Why This Role Matters
This is a rare opportunity for an investment professional who wants to lead regional economic transformation — not just manage portfolios. You’ll have the autonomy to develop partnerships, originate impact-driven deals, and directly influence funding outcomes that empower local entrepreneurs.
