Public Affairs Manager

SUMMARY:
One of our Multinational Clients in the FMCG Industry is looking to hire an experienced Public Affairs Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the effective conduct of the company in South Africa. Be the face of the organization for key external and stakeholders and Provide advice to ensure maximum impact in the region, including compliance matters.

POSITION INFO:

The Ideal Candidate

• Must have a minimum of 10 years post qualification experience in FMCG space in a Public Relations position.
• Must have experience with governmental & regulatory stakeholders at local/international levels.
• Must have knowledge of public affairs in the South Africa.  (Preferred exposure includes international Public Affairs exposure)
• Must have the ability to strengthen the company’s presence in South Africa through building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders enabling the ease of doing business across the country.

Duties include:

• Develop a comprehensive Company strategy in approaching local government authorities (topics / people / means of approach) incl. domestic tax, labeling, production issues and other relevant regulatory matters affecting the Company’s business, requiring engaging with government stakeholders at all levels to implement the public affairs strategy.
  • Stakeholder mapping, identifying stakeholder engagement platforms and ability to create new platforms.
  • Participate and lead various tasks in cross functional and transversal projects relating to government affairs, and corporate responsibility.
  • Driving industry association engagement in all the relevant markets in which the company operates
  • Regular contact with local companies’ staff & distributors in direct contact with government authorities
  • Regular contacts with industry counterparts to commonly drive joint approach.
  • Support local efforts, engaging with government stakeholders at all levels to implement the government affairs strategy (civil servants drafting regulations; senior bureaucrats, Ministers, and their advisers; parliamentarians and their staff.

• Qualifications

Minimum Qualification – BCom in Public Affairs or any related qualification.
