POSITION INFO:

The Ideal Candidate

• Must have at minimum 10 years’ experience in Corporate Affairs Management role in either Tobacco, Pharma, Gambling/Gaming or Mining environment
• Strong analytical and strategic skills, rigorous, proactive & creative
• Judgment & decision making, critical thinking, involving active learning & listening
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills
• Strong social, leadership and interpersonal skills
• Must have experience with governmental & regulatory stakeholders at local/international levels
• Must have knowledge of public affairs in the South Africa

Duties Include:

• Develop a comprehensive Company strategy in approaching local government authorities (topics / people / means of approach) incl. domestic tax, labelling, production issues and other relevant regulatory matters affecting the Company’s business, requiring engaging with government stakeholders at all levels to implement the public affairs strategy
• Track all regulatory & political issues of interest to the organization within SA & SSA and support the organization and its affiliates in Government Affairs
• Develop a strong network on issues where the relevant country authorities would be involved
• Stakeholder mapping, identifying stakeholder engagement platforms and ability to create new platforms
• Participate and lead various tasks in cross functional and transversal projects relating to government affairs, and corporate responsibility
• Drive industry association engagement in all the relevant markets in which the company operates
• Forecast & track all internal and external public affairs expenses Define the Channel Strategy for each Distributor or Partner include Duty Free Customers
• Presence on boards of industry regulatory bodies such “Association for alcohol responsibility and education” (Aware.org) and SALBA
• New Product Development (NPD) regulations tracked and monitored

Qualifications

Degree in Legal, Marketing/Public or Corporate Affairs
