Position: Purchasing Manager

Location: Durban

Our client in Durban is looking for a Purchasing Manager

Procurement of best quality equipment, parts and raw materials for the company at the most competitive prices and lead times according to the Bill of Materials

Purchasing Strategy and Management:
Design, develop and implement a purchasing strategy

Conduct meetings and planning sessions with the planning and estimating or other relevant departments
Meet on a regular basis with Design Engineers to discuss the Bill of Materials
Establish Project Standards
Quotations:
Negotiate and agree on contractual obligations, constantly monitor progress and check on quality provided

Prior to order goods, identify and confirm requirements in accordance with the Bill of Material and or project specifications
Logistics
Receiving goods
Managing 6 buyers (both local and foreign) to ensure all project and general purchases are taken care of and relevant delivery timing are planned and met
Managing 2 logistics planners to ensure all imports, exports and deliveries are planned and executed as required
Managing 6 store men, making sure that all goods received are accounted for, general stores items are being correctly managed and the overall stores processes are being followed

Qualifications & Required Experience:

• Matriculated with Maths & Science
• Diploma or degree in Purchasing Management
• Knowledge of business process and automotive industry
• Minimum of 10 years purchasing experience in the Engineering field for the automotive industry
