QA / QC Inspector

SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Inspector to support the manufacture and fabrication of engineering equipment on a contract basis (12 months) in Johannesburg

POSITION INFO:
Scope of Services (High Level)
The Contractor will be required to deliver the following services, as applicable to assigned projects:

• Quality inspections and verification of fabricated and manufactured equipment
• Supplier inspections (local and international)
• Welding, fabrication, machining, heat treatment, coating, and NDE oversight
• Verification of compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Expediting and progress monitoring against project schedules
• Compilation and issue of accurate inspection and progress reports
• Liaison with project teams, suppliers, and clients on quality-related matters

• Relevant Trade Qualification – Red Seal Artisan (Fitter & Turner / Boilermaker / Millwright)
• SAIW Level II Welding and Fabrication Inspector, or IWS / IWT
• Coating Inspector certification (SAIW / NACE / FROSIO)
• NDE certifications in VT, PT, MT, RT and/or UT (advantageous)

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience with construction and engineering equipment manufacturing
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience working on construction and/or industrial sites
• Proven QA/QC and fabrication experience across a broad range of engineering and furnace equipment
• Sound working knowledge of:
  • Fabrication processes
  • Welding processes
  • Machining and heat treatment
• In-depth knowledge of construction and manufacturing codes, including:
  • AWS
  • ASME
  • EN ISO
  • Ability to read, interpret, and verify engineering drawings
• Proven experience issuing and verifying welding documentation:
  • WPSs
  • PQRs
  • WQRs
• Demonstrated working knowledge and application of:
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
  • ISO 3834 Welding Quality Requirements

• Inspection and test reports
• Welding and fabrication verification documentation
• Expediting and progress reports
• Supplier quality performance feedback
• Non-conformance and corrective action inputs
• Monthly quality and expediting summaries (where required)
