Quality Engineer

SUMMARY:
New role is available for a Quality Engineer role in Kariega.

POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Quality Engineer to join our Quality Assurance Division.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing departmental project activities related to the End-of-Line (EOL) process.

This includes ensuring that all units are effectively tracked, audited, reworked if necessary, and signed off in line with project timelines.

A key focus will be on improving product quality and Direct Run Rate through structured problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and drive project-related activities for QAVM EOL across all phases, ensuring timely processing and auditing of units.
• Identify and communicate changes in parts and processes for model year updates and new model introductions, ensuring team alignment and inspection readiness.
• Represent QAVM EOL in inter-divisional project meetings, highlighting non-conformities and proposing improvement opportunities.
• Lead and approve fitment trials for new or modified parts in collaboration with relevant departments, ensuring compliance with quality specifications.
• Prepare and present project units to management for sign-off, providing complete background information and supporting documentation.
• Communicate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and deviations to the team to ensure alignment and understanding during inspections and audits.
• Escalate issues where quality standards are not met, conducting thorough investigations and presenting findings at a management level.
• Compile project investment requirements, control expenditures within approved budgets, and contribute to financial planning in collaboration with the QAVM EOL Manager.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

• Thorough understanding of vehicle build processes, particularly EOL and Assembly.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle release procedures.
• In-depth understanding of vehicle components and systems.
• Familiarity with shop floor tools, fixtures, and equipment.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), SharePoint.

Desirable Qualifications

• B-Tech Degree in Quality (advantageous)
