Quality Officer (Site Based) - Limited Duration Contract

SUMMARY:
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSBILITIES 
Responsible for ensuring compliance with the company ISO 9001 Quality Management System on site whilst also performing various necessary quality process control related duties, ensuring quality conformance to specifications, designs, and customer requirements. Must provide advice and implement quality assurance and control measures and perform administrative activities such as checking and completing all QA and QC documentation. 

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE: 
Minimum Education:

• Tertiary education, diploma technical / technical trade qualification

• Experience and knowledge/certificate in quality assurance, quality control, quality management, ISO 9001 and internal auditing.

• 3 - 5 years’ practical experience in quality control / assurance / management role
• 2 - 3 years' practical experience within a construction environment (SHEQ)
• Experience in overhead lines, sub-stations, renewable energy and or overhead track equipment (OHTE) construction

• Effective written and verbal communication with all interested parties (internal & external).
• SHEQ observation and coaching weekly.
• Report complaints (internal and external).
• Communicating identified defects and collaborating on corrective actions.
• Participating in meetings related to quality control and quality assurance.
• Report changes needed to the update PQMP, QAP, QCP’s/ITP’s, QCS’s, quality data packs, organograms, and material data packs with the PM, CM and Quality Lead.
• Liaise with the Client on quality related matters and keep PM, CM and Quality Lead informed of the outcomes.
• Attend meetings with Client and other interested parties and report back to PM, CM and Quality Lead on quality discussion points.
• Issue SHEQ observation/s weekly.
• Prepare and issue SHEQ awareness training on a bi-weekly basis.

• Ensure good relationship with Customer (internal and external) and build on it.
• Working closely with PM, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to address quality issues.
• Providing guidance and support to site staff to improve quality standards.

• Compile and update the Project Quality Management Plan (PQMP) according to Client requirements for the project.
• Compile quality data pack for material inspection according to Client requirements.
• Prepare, complete/compile Quality Control Plans (QCP’s)/Inspection & Test Plans (ITP’s), construction/quality data packs according to Client requirements.
• Identify in conjunction with CM and the Client, the interventions needed and prepare the QCP’s/ITP’s.
• In conjunction with the PM and CM, obtain the signatures of all parties involved on the PQMP, QAP, QCP’s/ITP’s, QCS’s, material data packs, etc.
• Review, update PQMP, QAP, QCP’s/ITP’s, QCS’s, quality data packs and material data packs.
• Monitor and update the project master list of documentation and Business Risk Assessment for quality related matters in conjunction with DocControl.
• Attend material inspections at Supplier and Company stores prior to release or issue for use (on request).
• Obtain and file all necessary material acceptance and material release inspection records.
• Performing regular inspections of work in progress and completed work, for example: Setting out soil compaction, pre- & post-concrete, slump test, structure assemblies, etc., and keeping the register up to date.
• Conduct inspections of materials, equipment, and construction/installation activities, and keep the register up to date.
• Ensuring that materials and finished products meet specifications.
• Organizing and coordinating inspections and testing activities.
• Verifying compliance with quality control plans and relevant documentation.
• Monitoring atmospheric conditions during critical operations (e.g., concrete pouring).
• Assist with the compilation of data pack in accordance with the Company or Client requirements.
• Communicate noted SHEQ deviations by registering them as nonconformance on mySHEQ (NC’s).
• Manage the control of quality records by adding them to M-Files and updating the hardcopy files.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and Company policies.
• Ensuring that SHEQ protocols are followed during inspections and construction activities.
• Audit project monthly, record the audit, and update the Audit Programme on M-Files.
• Issue NCRs for deviations and manage it till closure.
• Attend external quality-related audits and report on outcomes to PM, CM and Quality Lead.
• Attend supplier evaluations, applicable to project on request.
• Investigate quality related nonconformances.
• Assist with quality related preparation and returnable for tenders.
• Monitor and manage the calibration certificate on project and keep the calibration register up to date.
• Attend random construction inspections to ensure compliance with requirements.
• Monitoring the performance of subcontractors and suppliers.
• Tracking and trending quality data to identify areas for improvement.
• Helping to develop and implement quality control processes.
• Monitor and manage calibration of equipment.
• Ensuring that all documentation is accurate and completed.
• Identifying root causes of quality problems and implementing corrective actions.
• Regularly update the data book tracker vs the actual completed works.
• Regularly update inspection register for all completed inspections.
• Regularly update the rework logbook for deviations encountered during the project execution.
• Review and approve service provider quality evaluation.
• Manage and update data pack acceptance sheets after submission.
