Principal Mechanical Engineer (Mining Consulting) – Pretoria

POSITION INFO:

Our client is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm.

Job Description

Broad understanding of mining infrastructure requirements, commercial construction industry practices, construction contracts, and budget/schedule management. etc.
Manage a multidisciplinary team of all engineering disciplines.
Lead projects.
Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
Travel to site for client interaction and/or OEM supplier premises.
Mechanical engineering and design during all project phases
Construction QC/QA
Prepare concept design
Oversee testing and commissioning processes
Cost estimation of mechanical engineering scope of work, including equipment and construction costs.
Prepare Proposals, Expression of interests, and tendering.
Mentorship of junior team members.

Qualifications

BSc / BEng / BTech Mechanical Engineering
ECSA registration is preferred

Skills

8+ years’ experience
Proven working experience in the mechanical consulting industry with project experience in mining projects (Tailings, Slurry Transfer, Material Dewatering and Handling would be added advantage)
Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, codes, and standards.
Materials handling design experience
AutoCAD / Inventor / Navisworks/ DEM/ experience
Various Study Phases of Project Development (Pre-feasibility, Feasibility, Detail design, Execution)
