REPORTING ACCOUNTANT - ON CONTRACT

SUMMARY:
LARGE GROUP OF INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES

POSITION INFO:

Based Pretoria. 

This high profile R4 billion Industrial Group of Companies is requiring a Reporting Accountant on Contract for at least 4 months.  During this period, the CFO, to whom the candidate will be reporting, will be able to tweak the duties and responsibilities of this key position within the Group and which may eventually become permanent.  During this 4 month period, the Group will be going through its December year-end External Audit and Annual Budgets & Forecasting.  The candidate will be involved in these functions as well as duties outlined below.    

Key performance areas, inter alia, include:         

• Compliance – in respect to IFRS and allocation of transactions as well as tax compliance.  There are also ad hoc reports required by the Expat Financial Director that needs to be complied with and will be expounded at interview.  In addition, variance analysis needs to be done on Actual versus Budget Fixed Cost Reporting. 
• Company tax calculations for statutory financials with submissions to Tax Consultants and attend to queries, providing the candidate has the experience (as the main thrust of this position is ‘reporting’)
• Budgets and Forecasts - Annual Budgets for 7 Companies but only 2 are very large and the rest are small.  This includes 2 Manufacturing Plants and a Mine.  This is sub-divided into the various sections of the businesses and Forecasts needs to be prepared using Waterfall Graphs.  All these Budgets will then need to be consolidated.  The analysis of actual financial data on Budgets and Forecasts needs to be done.  The Budgets and Forecasts are prepared using Excel and then uploaded onto SAP.  In addition, the Budget needs to be presented to EXCO using PowerPoint and they will thoroughly review it and ask pertinent questions. 
• Statutory Financials – mapping, drafting & IFRS compliance on Annual Statutory Financial Statements for Group using CaseWare.  Liaise with Internal & External Auditors on queries raised in AFS and submit AFS to SARS.  The drafting of the AFS will be for the 7 Companies and prepared by loading the respective TB’s into CaseWare.  The AFS will also be submitted to the Company Secretary in a XBRL format which is already set up in the CaseWare template and the candidate must ensure its correctness.
• Reporting – the use of advanced Excel is required including building Models and using different types of Graphs as well as using Tableau (training will be provided).  The reporting will include assisting External Audit Team with technical reporting requirements, investigating misallocation of costs, consolidating costs for both the manufacturing plants. Ideally being able to complete the Tax Packs and submit to the Tax Consultants (the CFO will outsource many of the Tax requirements if the candidate does not have the experience). 
• Assist the Internal Auditors with information as and when required including for Internal Control Audits.

Requirements:

• Recently qualified CA (SA) with at least 2 years post Articles and has experience in large Groups or a CTA that has completed Articles with relevant large Group reporting experience. 
• As mentioned above, if the candidate’s strength and experience is in reporting but not tax then the tax responsibilities will be outsourced.  The main thrust of this position is ‘reporting’, especially for the year-end Audit as well as Budgets and Forecasts.
• Advanced Excel and in-depth experience in CaseWare are prerequisites for this position.
• An enquiring mind, detail driven, able to work in a very pressurised and deadline driven environment as well as a high degree of accuracy are required.  In addition to Powerpoint skills, the candidate must be able to field questions in a professional and credible manner.
