RISK & COMPLIANCE OFFICER

CAPE TOWN CBD

MARKET RELATED SALARY, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Law, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years' experience in legal, risk, or compliance roles (preferably within a law firm or professional services firm)
In-depth knowledge of South African legal and regulatory frameworks, especially LPA, FICA, POPIA, and related legislation
Experience with compliance systems and risk management tools
Certified Compliance Professional (e.g., CPrac(CA), CProf(CA)) or similar
Admitted attorney (advantageous but not essential)
Experience in internal auditing or forensic investigations
Ensure the firm complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards, including:
Legal Practice Act (LPA)
Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)
Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Codes
Bank SLA compliance
Maintain and update compliance policies and procedures in line with changes in legislation
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies (e.g., LPC, FIC)
Develop and manage internal compliance audits and respond to external audit requests
Draft and submit regulatory reports and returns (e.g., FIC reports, compliance certifications)
Monitor and ensure training of staff
Risk Management

Incident Management and Reporting
Strong analytical and investigative skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
High attention to detail and integrity
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
