Regional Finance Controller - Sub Saharan Africa

SUMMARY:
A leading multinational organisation is seeking an accomplished Regional Financial Controller to oversee the financial control, governance and reporting functions across its Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) operations.

This is a pivotal role within the regional finance leadership team, suited to an experienced finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure multinational environment. You will take ownership of financial control across multiple African jurisdictions, ensuring robust governance, financial integrity and compliance, while partnering closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

This position requires a confident, hands-on finance leader who is equally comfortable engaging with executive leadership and external auditors as they are reviewing reconciliations, resolving complex financial issues and strengthening financial controls across the region.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities and Duties: Lead the day-to-day financial control activities across the Sub-Saharan Africa region. Ensure the integrity of financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple legal entities. Drive financial governance and maintain a strong internal control environment. Oversee intercompany accounting, reconciliations and dispute resolution across the region. Lead the preparation for internal and external audits and manage auditor relationships. Ensure compliance with Group financial policies, statutory requirements and corporate governance standards. Support month-end, year-end and regional reporting processes. Monitor foreign exchange exposures and regional financial risks. Partner with finance teams across multiple African countries to ensure consistent financial practices. Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and operational efficiency. Support regional finance projects and strategic initiatives as required Qualifications Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent professional accounting qualification. Minimum of 10 years' post-qualification finance experience within a multinational organisation. Proven experience in a Regional Financial Controller, Regional Finance Manager or similar senior finance role. Extensive experience managing finance across multiple African countries. Demonstrated exposure to West African operations is essential . Middle East regional finance exposure would be highly advantageous. Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial control experience. Extensive experience working with external auditors and managing audit processes. Experience managing intercompany accounting within a multinational group. Strong ERP systems experience (SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SUN or similar). Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
