Graduate level education or equivalent

10 years + applicable experience (demonstrated leadership)

Committed Christian

Role to be ideally based in Nairobi or alternatively home-based elsewhere in Africa

Remuneration: £31 000 - £35 000 per annum

Church Mission Society and our partner organisation CMS Africa are entering into an exciting new phase in developing our work together for mission growth in the region. Building on a fantastic heritage, and together with our brothers and sisters in mission in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and the UK, we are aiming to help build a truly global mission movement of people who are called to make disciples of Jesus at the edges.

We’re looking for a highly-relational leader to foster fruitful collaboration with our established network in the region, and internally within CMS, and who will help us both to maintain our existing work and to take forward this new work of developing mission movements.

Key responsibilities include working in conjunction with the Global Mission Director and closely with CMS-Africa towards implementing our strategy in Africa, and to work with the Regional Personnel Officer for Africa to provide oversight and support to our people in mission, as well as working closely with CMS-Africa, strategic partners, and CMS staff teams on operational tasks.

The successful candidate must have a significant mission experience in Africa as well as strong experience in leadership in mission, church or another Christian organisation with responsibility for people and strategic development; be a dynamic problem solver, able to overcome obstacles with a calm approach; being able to bring people together and being a catalyst; have proven ability to create and sustain high levels of relational trust cross-culturally; speak English fluently and speak either French or a relevant African language (e.g. Swahili) fluently.

This post has an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a practising and committed Christian, committed to the aims, values and the ethos statement of CMS. In addition, they must be able and willing to travel internationally around 50 days per annum. An enhanced criminal records check is also required for this post.
