SUMMARY:

An established international manufacturer of specialised agrochemicals is seeking the above to develop and direct regional business strategies and plans to achieve the agreed profit and volume goals for the (relevant) region, consistent with overall Sales and Marketing strategy.



POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have an honours degree in Agriculture, Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent
  • An MBA will be ideal
  • At least 5 years’ Sales Management experience in the Agricultural Industry is essential
  • Relevant experience in the seed industry will be an added advantage
  • Broad technical knowledge of crops, products and farming practices will be required

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and directing regional business strategies and plans consistent with overall marketing and sales strategy.
  • Developing Market Information, Budgets, Forecasts, Business Plans and Partnership Agreements.
  • Identifying, defining, establishing and maintaining influential relationships with relevant institutes and key crop value opinion leaders.
  • Focusing resources on growers and key influencers in the food/feed chain, creating pull approaches.
  • Building relationships in value chain and identifying the lead influencers.
  • Identifying key crop, product and market opportunities and threats.
  • Keeping abreast of market, trade and competitor activity in order to revise strategies to meet changing requirements.
  • Developing and implementing effective sales strategies.
  • Performing regular GAP analyses to identify shortcomings in in the sales region.
  • Managing and developing the sales region by optimising sales areas and building trust with sales brokers.
  • Leading regional sales team members to achieve sales targets.
  • Spending 80% of time on direct customer contact through on-farm visits along with sales brokers, farmers days or sales and marketing events.
  • Establishing productive and professional relationships with key personnel at assigned customer accounts.
  • Identifying needs to negotiate and close agreements with major industry customers.
  • Monitoring and analysing product performance metrics and suggest improvements.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual sales reports and forecasts.
  • Performing research and identifying new potential customers and new market opportunities,
  • Providing timely and effective solutions aligned with customer needs.
  • Staying up to date with new product launches.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained
