Registered Tax Practitioner

SUMMARY:
A well-established tax and accounting practice in Table View (Cape Town) is looking for a professional and experienced Registered Tax Practitioner.

Only candidates already residing in Cape Town will be considered.

POSITION INFO:

This role is suited for someone with a minimum of 3 years’ working experience in a tax and accounting environment, particularly in Individual & Capital Gains Taxes. This is not a training role - you need to be ready to get to work on day one, no handholding required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Completion and submission of Income Tax Returns
• Evaluate and check tax assessments for accuracy
• Liaise directly with SARS consultants and attend meetings when required
• Handle tax queries and error resolution with SARS, including refund matters
• Manage tax compliance, including SARS deadlines, payment processes, and record-keeping
• Perform provisional tax calculations and submissions
• Administer donations tax and foreign investment tax clearance certificates
• Handle VAT and PAYE registrations, tax directives, and related processes
• Submit requests for suspension of payment, objections, and appeals
• Apply working knowledge of the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act
• Communicate effectively with clients on all tax-related matters
• Provide general tax support and assist with ad hoc tax tasks
• Oversee and check annual financial statements prepared by junior staff
• Assist with tax clearance applications and maintain good standing with SARS
• Handle administrative tasks such as managing correspondence and appointments with SARS
• Collaborate and provide support to other team members as needed
• Work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment without sacrificing quality

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric certificate
• Registered Tax Practitioner (essential)
• Degree in BCom Taxation; BCom Accounting; BCom with Taxation as a Major; Bachelor of Accounting Science; Bachelor of Accounting or Postgraduate Diploma in Taxation
• 3 years’ working experience in a tax and accounting firm
• Solid experience in:
• Capital Gains Tax
• Individual Tax
• SARS eFiling and tax compliance
• Excellent knowledge of SARS procedures and ability to meet deadlines
• Strong understanding of the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and client communication ability
• Highly organized, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant tax/accounting platforms
• Professional, punctual, and capable of working independently and within a team
