Power Station Control Room Manager

POSITION INFO:

This senior position reports directly to the Executive Manager Operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the management of all Control Room functions and the implementation, compliance and enforcement of all Plant safety regulations, and the safe, efficient and competent operation of all aspects of the control room in terms of PPA Annex 9.
A Matric or technical equivalent is required, as are normal PC skills as well as Maximo, and OPSLOG  Workflow (ETD Requirements NQF level 4). ETD Certification as Electrical Level 4 Practitioner and Certification as an Assessor & Moderator will be advantageous. An extensive knowledge & understanding of OHS Act, Excavation Construction Regulations and Power PFFR, PSR & ORHVS Regulations, and the OHS Act & Codes is a fundamental requirement, as is the ability to effectively handle high pressure situations, and display excellent management and communication skills.
 A minimum of six years demonstrated experience in operation of coal fired power stations and at least three years experience in a power generating facility carrying out plant isolations and issuing Safe to Work permits to the maintenance department is also a prerequisite as is a good knowledge and understanding of various types of plant gained from both practical experience and formal training.
