Regulatory Accountant CA(SA)

SUMMARY:
Seeking a Charted Accountant with 3 to 5 years in a regulatory environment. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all Group Returns are prepared timeously and accurately.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications and Experience required:

Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in the regulatory environment

Financial reporting experience

BCom degree/Finance related degree

Minimum postgrad (advantageous)

Key Areas of Responsibility

Management of Returns

Ensure all PA and SARB regulatory submissions are submitted in accordance with timelines and standards and regulations

Respond timeously to queries from the regulators (PA/SARB/FSCA)

Continuously manage relationships with the PA and any other regulatory stakeholders

Maintain actuarial data and liaise with the actuary on the information required for the group returns

Provide Actuaries with investment-related information for returns and reserving

Manage the planning and budgeting of regulatory matters, maintaining a timetable of submission

Review regulatory fee payments

Review regulatory-related policies

Maintain a summary of returns and any issues to report to management (EXCO/BOARD/AUDIT etc.)

Ensure ad-hoc regulatory requests are submitted in accordance with requirements
Risk Management/ORSA

Manage the Financial and Qualitative inputs for ORSA including providing 5 - year projections

Ensure continuous risk management and compliance within Finance Areas

Implement and maintain ORSA methodology and SAM processes and procedures

Provide continuous development of ORSA processes

Provide risk management with inputs for qualitative regulatory returns

 Continuous process improvement

Monitor the risk of investments

Support the finalization of the Own Risk Solvency Assessments process and integration with budget timelines

Management of Investments

Ensure Investment Accounting and Reconciliations for Investment data and integration for regulatory requirements

Review reconciliation of Investments

Provide the tax fund splits for investment related items

Implement Investment portfolio changes

Conduct investment analysis including presenting the investment results to stakeholders

Prepare investment budgets

Conduct reviews of investment mandates

Compliance

Ensure that all work is performed in terms of required standard and regulation

Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times

Maintain detailed procedure manuals for areas under management

Effectively identify, assess and report on problem areas

Ensure Compensation Fund requirement are submitted according to requirements

Provide assistance to the Chief Financial Officer on related matters as and when required
