Reporting Accountant

SUMMARY:

A company specialising in insurance based in Johannesburg North is looking to appoint a Reporting Accountant. The successful candidate must be technically strong, deadline driven and able to work under severe pressure. The key responsibility of the position is the implementation of IFRS17 in the short to medium term.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• CA (SA) designation is essential.
• 3-5 years post articles experience is essential.
• Comprehensive understanding of general ledger and financial accounting functions
• IFRS Accounting and reporting experience is essential.
• Experience within Insurance is essential.
• Knowledge and practical experience of relevant legislation is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Preparation of the internal monthly financial reports and analysing variances.
• Assisting in preparation of the monthly and annual shareholder reporting packs.
• Assisting in preparation of the quarterly and annual Prudential statutory returns.
• Preparation of the quarterly and annual South African Reserve Bank (SARB) returns.
• Preparation of the quarterly National Credit Regulation (NCR) returns.
• Preparation of the company annual and provisional tax returns.
• Monthly tax computation.
• Assist with the annual Budget process.
• Daily authorising of payments and cash management.
• Peer review of reconciliations and transactions.
• Implementation of IFRS 17.
• Assist with other finance related ad-hoc requests.
• Identify daily process efficiencies that can be automated and implement efficiencies.
