POSITION INFO:
Main purpose of the job: We are looking for an experienced Research Nurse to support clinical trials on a women's health Research team at the Clinical Health Research Unit, a division of Wits Health Consortium The successful candidate will be responsible for Participant recruitment, informed consent, screening, enrolment and retention; assist with study visits; support specimen collection, processing and tracking; maintain accurate source documentation and regulatory records; and capture study data in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the approved protocol Location: Helen Joseph Hospital, Westdene Key performance areas: Assist the Study Coordinator and Investigators with the planning, set-up, and day-to-day running of the clinical trial in accordance with the approved protocol, GCP and SOPs Recruit Participants, assist with screening and enrolment, and support Participant retention through follow-up, reminder calls and tracing of Participants lost to follow-up Administer informed consents and ensure consent is correctly documented Schedule and coordinate study visits, and liaise with Clinic, Pharmacy, and Laboratory staff to ensure visits run smoothly Provide Participant health education, HIV pre- and post-test counselling, and results counselling Perform study procedures, including but not limited to vital signs, phlebotomy, pregnancy tests, pelvic examinations, Pap smears, HPV tests, and STI tests Administer study drug\/investigational product, as requested Support the collection, processing, labelling, storage, and tracking of all biological specimens Maintain accurate, complete, and contemporaneous source documents, case report forms (CRFs), study logs, Participant reimbursement records and trackers Capture study data into the electronic data capture (EDC) system, resolve data queries, and support quality control of study records Assist with the assessment, documentation, and reporting of adverse events and protocol deviations to the study coordinator\/investigators Help maintain the Investigator site file Support readiness for monitoring visits, audits, and ethics\/regulatory reporting Assist Investigators with preparing study-related reports, presentations and educational materials, and share findings with community Stakeholders, as requested Provide routine clinical care, as requested Required minimum education and training: Registered\/Professional Nurse, Enrolled Nurse, or similar Valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification and training in the protection of human subjects Required minimum work experience: Active registration with the South African Nursing Council At least two (2) years of prior work experience in clinical research or public health Spoken and written fluency in English and IsiZulu or Sesotho Excellent computer literacy, writing, and presentation skills Organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills needed to conduct research projects Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data capture Self-motivation, a can-do attitude, and ability to work independently Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities Experience in cancer, sexual and reproductive health, and\/or HIV programs or research Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities: Clinical experience providing women's sexual and reproductive health services (e.g., Pap smear screening, STI screening, family planning) Prior experience in clinical trials Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Willingness to work overtime\/weekends TO APPLY: Only if you meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV and a cover letter (maximum one page) that clearly states which vacancy you are applying for Please Apply Online and complete your registration via our website to enable and protect you as a candidate, and to accept the new POPIA terms and conditions This will then create your permanent profile with which you can apply for all jobs as advertised by AJ PERSONNEL However, you may remove your profile from AJ PERSONNEL when you are no longer in the job market Please take note that the applicants who do not adhere to the above criteria will not be considered for the respective position Wits Health Consortium will only respond to shortlisted candidates Candidates who have not been contacted within two weeks of the closing date can consider their applications to be unsuccessful Closing date: 15 July 2026 Note: No CV will be accepted after the closing date Please note: WHC, in accordance with its Employment Equity goals and plan, will give preference to suitable applicants from designated groups as defined in the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998 and subsequent amendments thereto AJ Personnel is only responsible for advertising and the response handling on behalf of their client Wits Health Consortium AJ Personnel does not have any salary or other information regarding the position
