Research and Development Engineer

 

Internationally established Manufacturing organisation based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town has an opportunity available for a dynamic Research and Development Engineer.

 

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• National Senior Certificate / Grade 12.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• 2 years’ experience as a Research and Development Engineer.
• Proactive and methodical with a hands-on and technical approach.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to perform under pressure.

Key areas of performance:

Responsible for the technical research and development of solutions by means of engineering support within the following areas:

Product, Production and Machine Support and Improvements:

• Investigate and conduct technical tests on existing products.
• Compile reports of findings and include recommendations with relation to findings.
• Suggest product improvements based on research, tests and techniques found in industry.
• Providing technical production solutions.
• Gather data on production for specific machines to determine solutions to improve overall production efficiency.
• Supporting the maintenance team with technical support and solutions related to machine issues.
• Coordinate solutions on machine stoppages together with the service of contractors with relation to production demands of machines.
• Concept design of new machines improvements by means of CAD modelling, Calculations, and technical application of machines.
• Control and safe record keeping of all technical details per machine and specification of products.
• Delegate and assist with basic drawing and design of relevant Research and Development designs where applicable.
