Risk Officer / Yard Supervisor

Our client is looking for a Risk Officer/Yard Supervisor to join their team in Kempton Park

Roles and Responsibilities
Role overview
Hands-on, observant, safety-focused role ensuring the yard and surrounding facilities run cleanly, safely and efficiently. You’ll enforce compliance, control pallets, coordinate tidy-ups and checks, and keep tight records across a busy FMCG site.

Key responsibilities
Daily yard walkabouts: PPE checks, housekeeping, access control, hazards and security observations.
Compliance enforcement: ensure correct PPE in designated zones; conduct locker inspections and alcohol testing per company policy.
Pallet control: weekly counts (CHEP, Dis-Chem, de-branded black, second-hand brown), supervise repairs, arrange disposals/collections, keep logs.
Cleanliness & order: drive 5S standards; coordinate sweeping, waste segregation, spill clean-ups and general tidy-ups.
Collections & services: ensure drum collections happen per procedure; assist controlled fuel fill-ups safely.
Utilities & processes: monitor RO Plant readings/processes as instructed by the Financial Controller; escalate deviations.
H&S administration: run/document monthly Health & Safety checks/meetings; perform monthly building inspections and raise work requests.
Operational support: assist with container offloads; verify outbound loads; conduct spot checks on outsourced security and dispatch.
Vehicle control: assist with entry/exit inspections and random searches per policy.
Digital records: complete checks on the company app; log findings, raise deviations/non-conformances, and track close-outs.

Minimum requirements
Matric/NQF 4 (safety/technical certificate advantageous).
2–3+ years in a yard/warehouse/site support or supervision role.
Working knowledge of OHS, PPE enforcement, housekeeping, and basic facility upkeep.
Able to follow instructions precisely and use mobile apps/digital checklists.
Must be computer literate.
Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills.
Physically fit; comfortable with outdoor/yard work and manual tasks.
Experience with pallet control/repairs or yard supervision is a strong plus.
Valid driver’s licence preferred.

Advantageous
Basic Health & Safety, first aid / fire-fighting certificates.
Incident reporting & investigation exposure; risk registers/HIRA familiarity.
Forklift licence or experience coordinating MHE (pallet jacks/stackers).
FMCG/pharma/cosmetics site experience.
PSIRA registered.
