My client a leading international professionally managed industrial and services conglomerate, engaged in diverse operations such as sugar, steel, tea, construction, safari lodges, insurance, packaging solutions, distribution agencies, etc is urgently recruiting for a vacancy available in their Finance / IT Department.

Position Available : SAP Basis Manager

In brief The SAP Manager will provide technical support and oversight of SAP systems, including implementing standards and requirements, overseeing upgrades, as well as establishing processes for monitoring performance. This individual will also monitor SAP system configuration, design, applications, and troubleshooting.

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification: Computer Science, Bsc Degree , IT Engineering Degree or similar
• 8-10 years previous SAP experience (strong proven background in SAP Basis) with recognised large corporate / conglomerates
• Highly proficient and fluent in English language – essential
• Previous Experience in East Africa – plus
• As an SAP Basis Manager the successful incumbent should have strong experience / knowledge as an individual who provides technical support and oversight of SAP systems, including implementing standards and requirements, overseeing upgrades, as well as establishing processes for monitoring performance. The successful incumbent will also monitor SAP system configuration, design, applications, and troubleshooting and as such should be experienced in the above.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility is to Manage the day to day running of the SAP installation and AMS installation in its totality including but not limited to:

• Ensure complete and up to date documentation for all SAP/AMS activities including Basis activities and user details.
• Maintain the integrity of the SAP environment by managing the SAP Correction and Transport System (CTS) to ensure all configuration and development objects are promoted properly.
• Responsible for ABAP programming, design, testing and debugging work related to the implementation, enhancement, and support of SAP modules.
• Responsible to maintain SAP Project Management
• Responsible for appropriate scope definition or adequate attention to change management.
• Responsible for planning, designing, and conducting SAP/AMS system refreshes periodically as per industry best practices.
• Work with multiple teams – AMS, SAP, non-SAP IT and the overall Business team.
• Coordinating with SAP/AMS partners/vendors to resolve issues.
• Train and implement training programs as appropriate for users as well as to develop local SAP/AMS knowledge.
• Configure the SAP/AMS topology, application servers and central instance that make up the system as well as performance and tuning of the SAP application servers
• Create SAP/AMS users, maintain SAP passwords, defining printers and spools and adjusting the number of work processes on each SAP dialog instance.
• Ensure overall operation of SAP/AMS on the underlying Oracle database and Solaris servers.
• The current SAP/AMS DR strategy. Recommending and implementing any improvements and also planning, executing end to end DR testing.
• The backup of the SAP/AMS data and to ensure it is recoverable.
• Administer the SAP/AMS database with Database Administrator.
  • Plan and perform database upgrades.
  • Apply database maintenance,
  • Design and maintain physical database layout.
  • Perform database reorganizations,
  • Design and implement backup and restore strategy
  • Maintain database security
  • Administer database performance; manage database storage, database problem determination and resolution, etc.).
• Oversee the operation, training, documentation, and backup of the virtual infrastructure with the IT manager as a team
• Be a key member of IT strategy team comprising of Executives’, GM, DF and audit. You will report day to day to the DF as your line manager but will also have to report to the GM and Executives’ as required.
• In co-ordination with the IT manager, prepare regular reports covering manpower/training/upgrades/budget/audit for the Executives, GM and DF and ensure any matters arising from such reports are followed up.
• Be the key point to follow up and ensure any audit observations are implemented
• Any other responsibility as may be assigned by management.
