The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Grants Finance Officer to ensure smooth financial administration and end-to-end management of projects and grants, and provide financial administration support to Project Leaders and on-site clinical research staff. This role will also provide management support to the Grants Manager as well as conducting internal audits and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate should be professional, organised and capable of dealing with all aspects of grants, finance and procurement within a diverse multi-disciplinary research team. The position is based at the DTHF Head Quarters in Woodstock, however the successful candidate would be required to work across all DTHF Sites in line with their portfolio.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in finance and/or related field of study
- Minimum of five years hands on financial management/accounting experience, management accounts and income and expenditure statements
- Minimum of five years hands on experience in compiling donor financial reports in a research grants environment
- 3 – 5 years staff management experience
- Experience in drafting Standard Operating Procedures and Policies
- Audit experience
- Minimum 3 years working knowledge of SAP or similar financial package
- Computer literacy in Ms Office Excel (Advanced)
- Excellent verbal and written communication; proficiency in English
- Ability to work methodically, efficiently and meticulously
- Strong planning and organizing skills and deadline driven
- Problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure
- Ability to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision

Advantageous:
- Valid code 08 driver’s license
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day financial administration and management of all grants assigned
- Understand, interpret and advise on donor/funder contracts and grant policy guidelines
- Preparation of financial reports in line with funder requirements
- Analysis of financial reports in a narrative format
- Training on grants and finance policies and procedures
- Manage projects assets by informing Asset Coordinator of purchase and movement
- Salary allocation process co-ordination
- Manage site petty cash and credit card transactions
- Scholarship management
- Provide technical support to the Grants Team
- Risk Mitigation
- Internal Audits
- Co-ordinating annual audit tasks
- Co-ordinate the process of issuance of valid, accurate and complete grant related information to auditors, funders, and any other stakeholders
- Any other tasks and duties that may be appropriate to this position

Remuneration, depending on qualification and experience, is R55 895,08 per month.
